What do we mean by STEM education?

That question was the focus of animated discussion during a May 3 event at the Seattle City Club, which can be viewed online through the City Club's website. The occasion was an award ceremony for Science Education Advocates, cosponsored by Washington State LASER (Leadership and Assistance for Science Education Reform), CityClub, the Pacific Science Center, and The Boeing Company. During the 90-minute recording, award winners discuss their own paths to their current work in science education - noting experiences outside of school like birdwatching, museum visits, and science television - and their perspectives on sparking and sustaining interest and engagement in other learners.
