NSF ISE Program PI Meeting 2012

This is a reminder that CAISE will be convening the biennial meeting of National Science Foundation ISE Program-funded Principal Investigators, March 14-16, 2012, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.  The meeting will begin with an evening reception on March 14 and end by approximately 3:00 p.m. on March 16.  The NSF ISE program expects that all principal investigators with active major awards will attend the PI Meeting, and that PIs will use their project budgets to cover expenses. Please take action according to key dates and deadlines.  For additional details as the develop, stay tuned to the ISE PI Meeting 2012 webpage.

January 19: PI Meeting online registration opens

February 17: The last day to receive a discounted rate on your room at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Make your reservation by calling 1-800-THE-OMNI (1-800-843-6664) (ask for the Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education group rate) or reserve online.

February 17: Early bird registration discount ($250) ends. Registration rate after February 17 is $300.

March 1: Registration closes.  Due to space limitations onsite registration will not be available.

CAISE, NSF and a group of willing PIs are planning the agenda, which we hope will provide opportunities for you to: 1) network with other PIs and your program officers, 2) receive technical assistance, 3) access new knowledge and tools, and 4) be inspired by leaders and innovations in the field.  Our planning process so far has been informed by what we have learned from evaluations of the 2008 and 2010 PI Summits, feedback from NSF program officers, and emerging themes and issues from workshops and convenings of principal investigators occurring between now and the 2012 PI Meeting.  If you are interested in what’s in-process for the agenda, or have new ideas about what you would like to see, hear, or experience at the 2012 PI Meeting, please let us know in a reply to the newsletter.  Please also indicate if you would be willing to play a role in helping to facilitate the meeting.

For those who’d like to learn more about the most recent CAISE PI Meeting, thorough documentation of the 2010 Summit can be found on the CAISE website here. Thank you in advance for your input and please stay tuned to the for updates on the 2012 PI Meeting and other CAISE activities.

I would like to know if researchers in informal science are invited this year, such as doctorate students, or if this year is only open to PIs
