Help set national science education standards

Alan Friedman sends word of an opportunity to represent informal science education in discussions of new science education standards. Alan is a member of the governing board for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the U.S. Department of Education's "National Report Card," which measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is planning to introduce a new science test this year, and has contracted with ACT to set the standards for achievement levels on this test. Considering nominating yourself, or one of your colleagues, to serve on a panel that will recommend levels to be used. The work will involve going to one meeting, all travel expenses paid. You'll meet a variety of professionals from many fields, and help develop this important measure of the nation's science education. To find out more about NAEP and the nomination process, visit the NAEP website.
