Next Generation Science Standards Second Public Draft Available First Week of January

The second and final public draft of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) will be made available during the first week of January 2013. All interested educators, publics, and other stakeholders are invited to view the draft and provide feedback to the Lead States and writers. Informal science education professionals who design public programs, curriculum, exhibits, out-of-school time programs, and digital learning experiences that cross over to the formal realm of science education may be interested in reading and commenting on the draft.

The NGSS are composed of the three dimensions from the NRC framework.  The Lead States and writers released the first draft of the NGSS in May 2012. The new draft incorporates tens of thousands of comments collected during the review period, and the writers anticipate that a feedback report will be issued after the NGSS are completed in March 2013.  Visit the NGSS site at to learn more about the standards and view the second draft when it is made available next month.
