Informal science education supports people of all ages and walks of life in exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Broadcom Corporation, a global leader in semiconductor technology for wired and wireless communications, announced in late April that the company had established a $50 million foundation to support math and science programs, as well as a range of community services. According to the press release, the Broadcom Foundation will make charitable grants in excess of $2 million annually, mostly to support math and science education programs. The company expects to launch the Foundation later this year and begin making grants in early 2010. Information is available on the Foundation's website.
