Learn how to "SMILE"

Ready to SMILE? The Science and Math Informal Learning Educators pathway of the National Science Digital Library—a growing collection of activities and other resources for those who teach school-aged kids in non-classroom settings—is now open. You can learn how to help it grow during a three-day, online workshop that starts on Monday, December 7.

Sherry Hsi, director of online media research and evaluation at the Exploratorium, San Francisco, and co-director of SMILE, will demonstrate how to navigate the site to find activities and help you test drive the SMILE cataloging tools. You also can become one of a limited number of collaborators to apply for a seed grant to help you enter your organization's activities into the SMILE collection.

The workshop will run through ASTC Connect using asynchonous text discussions that you can access and respond to on your own schedule. There will be one synchronous web session on December 8 (currently scheduled at 1 pm PT, 4 pm ET). To enroll, email Margaret Glass at mglass@astc.org.
