Online discussion: Intersections: Fostering Researcher-Practitioner Partnerships

Starting January 25, Sandy Toro-Martell and Jean Creighton will lead a week of asynchronous discussion about models and features of informal learning partnerships that lead to productive outcomes. Dr. Jean Creighton, director of the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee (UWM) Planetarium, and Dr. Sandra Toro Martell, an assistant professor of Learning and Development in the Department of Educational Psychology at UWM, have collaborated for two years on investigating how people learn at the planetarium. They will share a descriptive study about pedagogical choices related to astronomical content delivery during Friday evening planetarium shows of 55 minutes for members of the general public. Participants are invited to join the discussion and share their experiences in forming collaborations.

The discussion is part of a series related to an August 2009 conference, Intersection: Bringing ISE and Learning Sciences Together, which was organized with support from NSF.

To join the CAISE Forum, go to ASTC Connect and set up an account (a very quick process). Once you've entered, look up the "course" called CAISE Forum and use the word "informal" to enroll yourself. You don't have to do anything else to receive messages -- they'll show up in your email. But if you want to post a message yourself, log on to the CAISE Forum, look for the area (in the middle of the page) for the "Intersection" discussion  and enter the discussion forum by clicking on the icon with the talk bubble.
