Informal Science Education PI Meeting 2012

CAISE will be convening the biennial National Science Foundation (NSF) Informal Science Education (ISE) Program Principal Investigator Meeting, March 14-16, 2012, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The gathering will be an opportunity for NSF ISE projects to come together to network with each other and their program officers, receive technical assistance, have access to new knowledge and tools, and become inspired by leading work in the field. Key Dates and Deadlines

Registration is now closed. Due to space limitations onsite registration will not be available.

Jan 20: PI Meeting online registration opened.

February 24: The last day to receive a discounted rate on your room at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Make your reservation by calling 1-800-The-OMNI (1-800-843-6664) (ask for the Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education group rate) or reserve online. The Omni Shoreham is sold out on Tuesday, March 13. Rooms are available at nearby hotels.

March 1: Registration ($300) closes.  Due to space limitations onsite registration will not be available.

Posters

NSF requests that you prepare a poster about your project to be shared at the poster sessions throughout the meeting. Attendees will receive a 36"H x 48"W trifold display board as well as materials (tape, binder clips, etc.) to mount their posters.

Note: Only one poster is needed per project. Only Principal Investigators or their designated project representatives need to bring a poster; evaluators and other project staff do not need to bring a poster.

Please include the following information on your poster:

  • An overview of your project and the big ideas you are trying to address.
  • A summary of your deliverables.
  • The intended primary audience and your approach to connecting with diverse audiences.
  • Project impacts and indicators and formative or summative evaluation results.
  • The challenges that you have encountered with your project.

The neighborhood

The Omni Shoreham is located in Woodley Park, 1.5 miles north west of Dupont Circle. The Smithsonian National Zoo and many restaurants are located within walking distance. We’ll provide a restaurant list and help to organize informal dinners on Wednesday night.

Getting into town

The Omni Shoreham is two blocks from the Woodley Park / National Zoo Metro Station on the Red Line, which can be reached easily from Amtrak Union Station and National Airport.
