Cross-Cultural Ecological Learning

Ecological Learning in Contrasting Mountain Systems: Yellowstone, USA & Altai, Russia

March 02, 2010 by Michael Brody

This project a brings together faculty expertise in science education, environmental science, and archaeology at Montana State University (MSU) USA and Gorno Altai State University (GASU) Russian Federation in two distinct but similar mountain systems (Altai Republic, Russian Federation & Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, USA). The project addresses informal science learning in an ecological context focusing on culture and diversity as they relate to indigenous populations in both mountain systems. We have a unique and timely opportunity to collaborate with international partners to investigate informal science learning related to ecological and cultural sustainability in two of the world’s most valuable and affected ecosystems.
