GAC, the first national collaboration to encourage family involvement in girls’ science learning, began in 1996 and has produced a project publication that makes the program and curricular resources available to youth-serving organizations and institutions. It emphasizes intergenerational learning and offers workshops and activities around 6 themes. During the funding period, 46 G.A.C. sites (47 science institutions & 44 Girl Scout councils across 24 states), reached 23,000 girl and adult participants. It is one of several evidence-based curriculum offered to afterschool programs through Great Science for Girls (GSG), an NSF-funded initiative led by the Educational Equity Center at AED.
