Cosmic Serpent: Bridging Native and Western Science Learning in Informal Settings

February 28, 2010 by Nancy Maryboy

Our project brings together personnel from science centers, natural history museums and tribal museums and communities. The project is building networks of relationship, creating awareness of how diverse ways of seeing the world can enrich museum practices and exhibits. Indigenous peoples showcase their observation based sciences and science educators provide links to science knowledge. Diverse ways of learning and knowing are discussed and create awareness of differing world views. Museums begin partnerships and work toward increasing their community attendance, through awareness of commonalities.
