SIFT+TERF=!!!

Making Connections: An Authentic Field Research Collaboration

During the weekend of January 30-31, 2010, we brought our Cohort 2 SIFTers together with our Cohort 1 TERFers for the first time. (Both groups had asked to meet the other as a subset of SIFT program participants become TERF program participants the following summer.) We were amazed at the level of serious scientific engagement exhibited by all of the teens. The older teens presented complex research in an accessible way and the younger teens asked detailed and thoughtful questions. All of the program staff watched in awe. Seeing the informal scientific near-peer mentoring in action gave us all goosebumps.
