Culturally Relevant Science Education

Archaeological Science for All

March 01, 2010 by Michael Brody

Prior research and educational activities of Project Archaeology indicate that interdisciplinary archaeology lessons and activities have a unique ability to connect diverse and under-represented students to science, ecological and cultural education. Our work shows that students understood the importance of preserving archaeological sites for future study and their ability to help connect us to past cultures and human lives. Project Archaeology supports many of the STEM education principles espoused in USA national education standards addressing STEM content learning, skill development and positive dispositions.
