Portal to the Public professional development workshops are based on the premise that informal science educators have valuable expertise and experience to share with scientists. Scientists engage in experiential and reflective activities that highlight how people learn in informal environments, communication strategies that support inquiry and how to design engaging activities that will help them share their own passion for science with museum visitors. Scientists overwhelmingly comment that they enjoy the workshops and feel the experiences help them get ready to communicate with public audiences.
