After spending about nine months preparing with Explora educators and exhibit developers, local Albuquerque scientists facilitate materials-based activities related to their current work with Explora visitors on the exhibit floor. These public programs provide visitors with the chance to experience science and technology concepts related to the scientists’ research and the opportunity to see scientists as neighbors in our community. In the photo, Melissa Martinez (right), a scientist from Sandia National Labs, talks about her work with a visitor who tries out the materials Melissa developed for Portal to the Public.
