Portal to the Public

March 02, 2010 by Kristin Leigh

An integral part of Explora’s Portal to the Public (PoP) program is a professional development workshop series for PoP scientists. Scientists attend four half-day workshops on topics like inquiry science, using experiential analogs, question types and sequences, and materials development. At the same time, each scientist meets one-on-one with an Explora educator or exhibit developer to design a materials-based activity that represents the scientist’s current work. Here, three scientists from Sandia National Labs and UNM participate in a workshop called “Materials-Rich Learning Experiences.” Over 50 scientists have now completed Explora’s PoP workshop series.
