Climbable Geometry

Geometry Playground

A girl does a victory dance after building a miniature replica of a geometric structure she was just climbing on. A family group poses for pictures inside a geometric illusion. These are snapshots from the video data we’ve gathered for research on Geometry Playground. This project combines new exhibit development with playground installations and visitor research. By juxtaposing hand-on manipulables with full-body, immersive environments, we are studying how learners build spatial reasoning skills at different scales. A traveling exhibition, outdoor playground installations and a research study will share these insights with the field.
