Plants are up to Something

Huntington Conservatory for Botanical Science: Plants are up to Something

March 02, 2010 by Kitty Connolly

Plants are not generally seen as very engaging objects for science exhibitions, even within public gardens. Conservatories worldwide promote visiting works of art more than their own permanent collections. But taking a novel and risky approach to a rarely featured subject paid off. Visitors’ knowledge, understanding, and attitude are all improved after visiting Plants are up to Something. Exhibits give visitors interesting and rewarding interactions that engage them with the collections.
“I love to garden and there [were] a lot of things that you don’t realize are going on right under your very nose.” — adult visitor
